Course information
This years event will be the flattest Chocolate run to date, as it is flat as a pancake on Belle Isle. INTERACTIVE COURSE MAP – Aid stations at miles 1,2 and 3 with water and Gatorade Endurance Formula.
Venue information
The Kona Chocolate Run is a festive fun chocolate-filled event for the entire family with some great running thrown in to start the morning off. This event includes a variety of races: a fun run, 5k, 10k, and a unique 15k Double Up event where participants can run both the 10k and 5k consecutively. The event is known for its vibrant and fun atmosphere, welcoming participants of all abilities. Chocolate enthusiasts are of course welcome.
Held in November, the Kona Chocolate Run transforms the venue into Michigan’s largest chocolate party.
The event features an 8-station fully served chocolate buffet, including hot chocolate, chocolate baked goods, chocolate candies, chocolate dipping, chocolate popcorn, chocolate milk, and other chocolate treats, all amidst the festive holiday atmosphere. For runners, the event provides a scenic course that starts with a flat stretch, moves through a beautiful residential area with rolling hills, and finishes with a great jaunt up the chocolate chute.
Race amenities include custom medals, the highly coveted chocolate jacket to the first 600 registered, a long sleeve shirt after that, and for the Double Up 15k participants, a special Kona winter hat. Participants are encouraged to register early due to perks like reduced fees and best race swag around.
Overall, the Kona Chocolate Run is celebrated for its fun environment, extensive chocolate offerings, and community-oriented atmosphere, making it a must-experience event for both local and visiting runners who have come from neighboring states as the word has spread about this chocolate lover’s dream.

Be among the first 600 participants to register and secure one of our highly coveted Chocolate jackets, a prized keepsake of this sweet adventure. This year’s course will be flat as a pancake and have incredible views of the Detroit Skyline, the Ambassador Bridge, the new Gordie Howe Bridge, and Windsor Canada on the back side of the course as if that was not enough no traffic to deal with on the course and plenty to do downtown after.
Registration information
Saturday 2:00 – 4:00 Sunday 7:00 am, Close 8:45 am. Once you arrive on site follow the signs and flags to the registration start area. Have you id ready and proceed to your group. Do not arrive late, we will not delay the start of an event for late arrivals. To avoid lines, please don’t wait till the last minute to arrive.
Policies
All events offer the same refund policy as other events in the industry nationwide. No Refunds or transfers for any reason! If an event is canceled due to circumstances out of our control including pandemic, health crisis, construction, weather, unsafe conditions etc. There will be NO Refunds or transfers. *Refunds or transfers granted for Military transfer or death. Jackets to those that opt in for and the first 1200 only! Long Sleeve shirts guaranteed 14 days out. If you register late your shirt is not guaranteed. Raffle: Treadmill based on availability.

Huge 8 station Chocolate Buffet style. Super cool large finisher medal. Highly coveted Chocolate jacket. Chocolate, Chocolate and more Chocolate – including Hot Chocolate, Tea and Coffee. Two luck finishers will receive the “Golden Medal” instead of a silver one. They will win a Stanley Thermos and 2025 entry, awarded at 11:00 a.m.. MUST be present to win. We will not mail this out.

5K, 10k, 15k Double Up Offered
The traditional Kona Double Up is offered at this venue. Those looking for the longer event, The 10k & 15k starts first, followed by the 5k, 10k & 15k double up athletes keep going for for lap 2 or 3 to complete your Double Up 15k & 10k.
Custom Event Medal
This year’s custom Silver medal features a 5 inch design with a custom ribbon.
"GOLDEN MEDAL"
Two lucky winners will be given “GOLDEN MEDALS” at the finish line. They will win a Stanley Thermos and free entry into next years event. They will be awarded at 11:00 a.m. Must be present to win.

Its Chocolate, its the holiday season, chocolate, its just before Thanksgiving, chocolate, music, chocolate, awards, chocolate, medals, chocolate, and smiling, laughing, chocolate faces.
The Chocolate Buffet
You will literally experience a true Chocolate buffet with sections of ice cream, shaved chocolate, baked chocolate goods, and other chocolate stations. Make your own Hot Chocolate, Coffee, or Tea. Then of course Chocolate Milk.
